Dressed (S4S) Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) Lumber
Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) has long been a preferred species for home and other structures because of its high strength, resistance to wear and ability to hold fasteners. There is a broad range of uses, including: light framing, timbers, exposed beam and roof systems, paneling, siding, millwork, trim, patio decks, scaffolding, bridges, highway structures, and piers. SYP can be easily pressure treated to greatly increase the service life by protecting the fiber from wood destroying organisms.
SYP dressed lumber is manufactured in a wide range of sizes, grades, lengths, and finishes. Generally the industry typically categorizes Dressed SYP lumber into four categories:
